Crane Lane
– A Poem by Elaine Desmond

Excerpt from Crane Lane
You spoke of Degas
As Christmas lights blurred gaudily
And carols grated.
Suddenly, you took my hand and we ran;
Tumbled past festively coutured mannequins
In high street windows;
Veered through a jumbled maze of tacky Cork side streets
To enter a magical, hidden dimension of the city
Where Dionysius, Aphrodite and Hecate revel,
And the Muses dwell.
